On Sunday, August 11, 2013, at 04:34 hrs. Hamilton Twp. Police Department responded to 36 Chancellor Park Drive for a reported structure fire.
Upon arrival heavy fire and smoke were seen through the roof of residence. The homeowner, Jeffery Perkin, his wife and four children had already evacuated the house.
Mays Landing Fire Company was first on scene and established fire command. Additional Fire companies from Cologne and Laureldale were immediately dispatched, along with Cardiff Fire Company’s “RIT team” (Rapid intervention Team).
The fire was under control within 30 minutes.
Two minor injuries were reported at the scene and treated by Hamilton Twp Rescue Squad.
South Jersey Natural Gas and Atlantic City Electric Company responded to the scene to disconnect utility services.
Preliminary investigation revealed the fire started by an outside grill. The residence sustained extensive fire and water damage. Both residences on either side of the fire sustained moderate exterior damage
The homeowners’ are staying with family in the area.
