On 12/22/2011 at approximately 1500 hours, the Hamilton Township Police Department became aware of a child abduction at the Hamilton Mall. Through the cooperation of Hamilton Mall Security Personnel, video of the incident was obtained. It was discovered that Ronald Ross, age 29 of Egg Harbor Township, brought his two year old son to the Hamilton Mall to meet with the child’s mother, Cassidy Purdy, age 24, visiting from Mississippi. During their meeting at the Hamilton Mall, Cassidy left with her son. An Amber Alert was issued when the nature of the abduction became apparent on the video. After multiple agencies assisted in the investigation, Cassidy Purdy was discovered with her son on the Cape May Lewes Ferry as the ferry pulled into port in Lewes Delaware. Cassidy Purdy was charged with interfering with child custody by the Hamilton Township Police Department, and is being held in a Delaware Correctional Facility pending extradition. The two year old child was returned to his rightful custodial guardian.
