There have been several articles in local newspapers regarding the recent restructuring of the police department and changes to the reporting process.  The recent downsizing of the police department has made it necessary to change the manner in which the police department receives citizen reports of less serious incidents/offenses.  The police department is taking advantage of technology to maximize our ability to provide effective and efficient public safety to our residents and vistors.   To accomplish this goal, with reduced staffing, the department is requiring our residents to report certain offenses/incidents online or by walk-in (kiosk) to the police department.  I want to emphasize that the police department is still taking all reports, but citizens won't see an officer for the lesser offenses.  This change in the method of reporting enables the officer ...
