On 10/30/11 at approximately 1419 hours, the Hamilton Township Police Department responded to the Mizpah section of Hamilton Township for a one vehicle motor vehicle crash. The crash took place on West Point Avenue just north of Fulton Avenue.
The investigation revealed that Tyrone W. Russell, 50, of Mizpah had just pulled from his driveway and was traveling southbound on West Point Avenue. He was operating a motorcycle. Russell lost control of his motorcycle and fell off. Russell landed in the southbound lane of West Point Avenue, and the motorcycle continued off the roadway. The Buena Rescue Squad and Paramedics responded to the scene. Russell was then flown, via medivac helicopter to Atlantic City Medical Center, City Division, for treatment of unknown injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

On October 13, 2011, Detectives with the Township of Hamilton Police Department arrested Eddie DeJesus, age 31 of Mays Landing, NJ.
DeJesus's arrest was the result of a lengthy investigation during which a search warrant was issued for his residence. DeJesus is suspected of secretly videotaping a juvenile victim. DeJesus was charged with 2nd Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, 3rd Degree Invasion of Privacy and 4th Degree Fabricating Physical Evidence.
DeJesus was lodged into the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $50,000 full cash bail.
On Friday, 10-14-11 at 1134 hrs, the Township of Hamilton Police Department responded to the area of Mill St and Old Harding Hwy for a report of a suspicious person reported to be carrying an axe.
Patrol checked the area but was initially unable to locate the person. A further search was conducted after an officer observed signs of a forced entry to the Wheaton Building. Inside, police located the suspicious person as described, attempting to remove metal from a large breaker panel.
Joseph Capaccio, 21, of Mays Landing, was arrested by Ofc. Hartman and charged with Burglary and possession of Burglar Tools. He was placed into the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $25,000 cash bail. Capaccio was previously arrested, charged, and placed in jail by the Township of Hamilton Police in July for burglarizing a nearby residence.
On Friday October 14th, 2011 at approximately 2:06 pm, Ofc. J. Jacobi of the Township of Hamilton Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop on a wanted person inside a black Chevrolet Blazer at Bayberry Court. While Ofc. Jacobi was approaching the vehicle, the driver fled the area at a high rate of speed on Woodland Drive. Shortly after fleeing, the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a curb, causing a flat tire. The driver and a passenger then fled the area on foot.
A Township of Hamilton Police K9 responded to assist with the search. Neither suspect was located at that time. Police did recover multiple small bags of suspected marijuana packaged for sale from the vehicle, along with additional suspected narcotics. Investigation continues.
On September 27, 2011 Township of Hamilton Police Department responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Scranton Ave for a report of a Home Invasion Robbery. The initial report was that three male subjects forced their way into the residence and were armed with weapons. The suspects held the victims at gunpoint while searching the residence.
During the investigation detectives from the Township of Hamilton Police Department were able to develop information and identify Andrew Miller age 19 of Pleasantville as one of the suspects. Miller was subsequently charged with Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault and Weapons offenses.
No one was injured during the robbery and detectives are still searching for the other subjects involved.
Andrew Miller is being held at the Atlantic County Jail in lieu of $100,00.00 cash bail set by Honorable H.R.Switzer.
On September 29, 2011 the Hamilton Township Police Department received information of an aggravated sexual assault that had occurred in December of 2010. Maurice Smalls (42/M) of Mays Landing NJ was identified as the suspect.
On October 4, 2011 Smalls was located at his place of employment in Atlantic City with the assistance of the Atlantic City Police Department.
Smalls was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on first degree Aggravated Sexual Assault charges. Bail was set at $250,000 full cash by JSC Connor.
The Hamilton Twp Police Dept is investigating an incident of Criminal Mischief which occurred at the athletic field in the Harding Lakes section of the Township.
On Saturday October 1, 2011 at approx. 7:40 PM a vehicle described as a black pickup pulled onto the athletic field off of Knight Ave. As a group of parents approached the vehicle it sped off erratically damaging the field grass, striking a wooden bench and narrowly missing the approaching parents.
No one was injured.
