The patrol bureau makes up over 80% of sworn personnel. Within the patrol bureau are 'specialty units' such as traffic, K9, bike patol and training. Their main job is to 'Protect' and 'Serve' the public.
To accomplish this task they are charged with upholding the laws of this state and the Township of Hamilton by arresting violators, investigating crimes, serving warrants and identifying crime patterns and trends. Another important aspect of the job is responding to emergency medial calls, securing and investigating motor vehicle accidents, and community relations.
Patrolman are assigned to patrol 'beats' which allows them to become familiar with the people who live and work in the area as well as trouble spots and other areas that may need special attention. They meet with neighborhood watch groups, property managers and condo associations to analyze specific problems and resolutions.
They perform the above duties on a daily basis to accomplish the mission of the department;
'To deliver quality police service that meets the community's expectations.'
